Cast Lip

Showcasing features and benefits of Cast lip.

Eclipse® Cast lip is the most streamlined cast lip in the market. Its streamlined design features are gained from simulations across a range of machines, achieving up to a 3% reduction in fill power required, and up to 1 tonne mass reduction. The other advantages include a predicted increase in service life of up to 50%, improved bucket fill performance and cycle times, and improved design to extend maintenance intervals. Bradken offers an extensive range of Ground Engaging Tool options to suit the operational needs.
The Eclipse® range from Bradken is an evolution of our mining-class ground-engaging tools and has been designed to fit our bucket cast lips. Along with our locking pins, this set delivers consistent best-in-class performance in any environment.
Bradken’s technical experts from the engineering and manufacturing teams use advanced technologies to link engineering with manufacturing. Did you know that there are 20+ design configurations for the Eclipse® lip with only 7 consumable parts for simpler inventory?
Engineered for durability, reduced maintenance, and longer service life
Our Eclipse® Cast Lips are designed to deliver measurable performance improvements in high-load mining environments:
  • Extended Fatigue Life: Optimised for reduced assembly mass, delivering up to 40,000 hours in 600T machines and 25,000 hours in 800T machines.
  • Lower Maintenance Requirements: Stabilised lip shrouds and a shadowed lower leg minimise wear on fit pads and reduce shroud loss during back blading.
  • Improved Structural Integrity: A rounded rear corner eliminates weld start/stop points, reducing the risk of crack initiation and in-field maintenance.
  • Enhanced Crack Resistance: The split boss arrangement reduces stiffness, improves positioning, and elevates mounting-lowering stress concentrations and extending component life.
  • Result: Increased uptime, reduced maintenance costs, and more reliable performance in demanding applications.
The Eclipse® Cast Lip System enhance safety, faster changeouts, and reliability. There is a significant 95% reduction in energy required to retract the pin for removal. It allows safer operation and minimal effort for a more diverse workforce.
Our Eclipse® Cast Lips have proved their value in hard rock, coal, overburden, and iron ore dig conditions. We have achieved over 1342 hours with no pin failures, and our change-out time has significantly reduced to less than 10 minutes to change 6 points.
Our cast lip and ground-engaging tool system can lower the TCO for the customer’s machine fleet. They can be installed into Bradken’s range of mining buckets or can be custom manufactured to suit the existing OEM bucket fleet.
Bradken’s range of adapters fit into existing Bradken and competitor cast lip noses without the need for modification. Adapters are available in standard or heavy-duty options, and irrespective of choice, if a standard size is selected (i.e., 12 or 22), a common point can be fitted, reducing your inventory levels at your mine site.
Bradken’s range of Defender® cast lip shrouds is designed to meet the world’s toughest digging conditions. The shrouds can be retrofitted onto existing profile bosses on competitor products and are manufactured in Bradken’s superior alloys to provide improved wear life and reduced operating costs.
For your information: The benefits
Eclipse® Cast Lip solutions create a tangible impact on the operations.
The benefits include-
  • Fast and safe changeouts with truly hammer-free installation and removal.
  • Up to 3% reduction in fill power required, leading to improved penetration and lower fuel burn.
  • Optimised nose angle to increase ‘cutting clearance’ and ‘toe access’ to reduce the fill energy required.
  • Wear caps that provide lip protection and extend service life.
  • Up to 1 tonne mass reduction over previous generation lips - depending on the excavator size.
  • Predicted increase in fatigue life of up to 50%.
  • With secondary refinement of the high-strength alloy steel, Eclipse® lips perform extremely well in all applications.
All products from Bradken incorporate innovative solutions and designs that yield functional solutions. Characterised by reliability, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and whole of life value, these products lead to improved safety and reduced total cost of ownership.
