Circularity at Bradken: Circularity in Action
Circularity at Bradken is our steel recycling initiative, using circularity to transform end-of-life wear products into new value. It’s a practical, sustainable and scalable solution that supports our customers’ sustainability goals while advancing the mining industry toward carbon-neutral operations and zero waste.
Circularity at Bradken is more than a program, it’s a mindset.

What is our circularity offering
We buy back a range of used wear products from our customers, like steel mill liners and ground engaging tool (GET) points, in select regions. When returned to us, we use them to create new wear products, making the most of the specialist alloys we know they contain. This closed-loop recycling reduces landfill waste and supports decarbonisation via resource efficiency. Where possible, materials used in returned composite liners, such as rubber, are also recycled though our network.
Metal products are prepared for remelting using advanced separation and handling techniques.

Responsible Supply Chains for Reliable Supply Chains
We collaborate with socially responsible partners to ensure ethical recycling and increased transparency across the product lifecycle.
By conducting risk-based audits, we address modern slavery, avoid sourcing from conflict-linked regions and are building transparent, traceable, low-impact supply chains.
We also strive to work with local businesses in the areas that we operate, helping to support local economies.

Why it matters for us and our customers
Waste Diversion: Reduces waste to landfill and supports zero-waste targets.
Material Efficiency: Maximises recovery and reduces reliance on virgin metals.
Carbon Reduction: Reduces the embedded carbon in our customers’ supply chains, helping mines reduce Scope 3 emissions.
Cost Optimisation: Shared financial benefits from improved sourcing, waste management costs and reduced input costs.

Our pathway to sustainable products
Our circular economy approach, is implemented across select product ranges and will continue to evolve. Our pathway includes:
Sustainable inputs to our product manufacturing, like recycled steel
Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) to quantify impact and guide design
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for transparent sustainability reporting
Aligning our Standards, Policies, and Procedures with circularity and carbon insetting frameworks

Circularity at Bradken supports UN SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production by:
Promoting circular resource use
Recycling industrial waste
Enhancing sustainable procurement
Supporting traceable value chains

Our Commitment
Circularity at Bradken, our circularity model is more than a program, it’s a mindset. Together with our customers, we’re reclaiming materials, recasting value, and returning impact. Building an optimised future where performance and sustainability are inseparable.

Advancing Responsible And Sustainable Mining Through Circular Design
Mining is central to a decarbonised world—but with climate regulation and performance requirements accelerating, the industry must lead in decarbonising its full value chain.
Bradken’s Mill Liner Recycling Program has been designed to help the customers achieve their sustainability goals by disposing of worn and used liners. Under this program, the worn and used liners are dismantled, and their components are recovered for recycling or reusing in the most efficient way possible.
Sustainability
Carbon Neutral by 2030
Bradken is on a journey to become carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. We know it won’t be easy, but we have a roadmap to reach our targets.
